Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Zena Brabazon has written with other London Cabinet Members for Children, to Gavin Williamson, Secretary of State for Education asking for academy conversions to be paused.

The letter offers support to the campaign led by the Local Government Association to protect overstretched Councils at at time when staff time is being dedicated to coordinating sufficient school places for vulnerable children and children of key workers.

At this time of crisis where Haringey Council staff are working flat out to support our most vulnerable families such as those on free school meals, at risk of abuse or with disabilities, it is wrong to burden them with this non-essential work.
