£1.6m to make council homes more energy efficient

Haringey’s Labour Cabinet has launched a pilot to improve energy efficiency in our council homes.

The innovative new Energiesprong retrofit will maximise existing housing insulation and switch tenants to renewable or low carbon heat sources.

Councillor Emine Ibrahim, Cabinet Member for Housing and Estate Renewal, said: “This pilot scheme could lead towards our council homes being much cheaper to heat, which will really help residents, as well as help improve local air quality and reduce carbon emissions.

“Council officers will now work on exactly where this pilot will take place and, depending on the results, it could be something we roll out across much more of the housing stock.”
