We want to thank the Bridge Renewal Trust for their dedication and hard work over the last ten years at Chestnuts Community Centre, following their decision to end the tenancy. It has been a privilege to work with them, and we wish Geoffrey and the team the very best.
To be clear, Haringey Labour remains firmly committed to safeguarding the Centre’s future and continuing its legacy of strong social value for local residents.
The Bridge will continue running the Centre for up to 12 months to ensure a smooth transition for our communities, while the Council runs a fair, transparent process to identify a new operator – one that matches the community ethos of the Bridge and their team.
An Expression of Interest will open in January 2026 lasting around six months, ensuring all potential bidders, including community-led groups, have the opportunity to come forward.
We organised a public meeting on 8th December to ensure user groups and the wider community were informed, engaged, and able to shape the next steps.
We will hold a follow-up public meeting in January to provide updates and answer questions ahead of the Expression of Interest.
Chestnuts Community Centre has a strong future. Together with our community, this Labour Administration will ensure it continues to thrive and serve the people of Haringey.
