Haringey Labour is taking decisive action to deal with the problem of Heavy Goods Vehicles using roads in Alexandra as a rat-run.

To deal with this problem Haringey Council will be installing new vehicle weight restriction cameras in the area.

The Labour Council has listened to the concerns raised by residents and we are installing new vehicle weight restriction cameras to prevent HGVs from using your roads as cut-throughs, which has been causing congestion and increased pollution.

The cutting-edge smart cameras can estimate a vehicle’s weight, cross-referencing details with the DVLA to issue penalty charge notices to overweight HGVs. Drivers will be made aware of the weight restrictions by advanced warning and enforcement signs in the area.

This is central to our commitment to building a fairer Haringey is ensuring that every resident has clean air to breathe and safe, healthy streets to live on.

The introduction of these cameras aims to reduce congestion, prevent illegal activity by HGVs and improve safety in Alexandra Ward.
