Haringey Labour recently celebrated the launch of the Council’s new homelessness centre, Mulberry Junction. This is project is central to our commitment to build a fairer Haringey and deliver on our manifesto commitment to end street homelessness by 2022.

The launch of this new centre in Tottenham aims to reduce the number of people sleeping rough and is being delivered in partnership between with Homes for Haringey and St Mungo’s Housing Association.

This centre is specifically targeted at single adults who experience homelessness or rough sleeping and offers a resource centre which provides holistic housing, health and skills support, as well as access to supported housing to help start their recovery and eventual move to suitable accommodation in the borough.

Ensuring everyone has a safe decent and affordable home was a key element of the Haringey Labour 2018 manifesto. It is hoped the Mulberry Junction’s range of community solutions will contribute to reducing the number of households in temporary accommodation and helping to end street homelessness by 2022.

Cllr Sarah James, Cabinet Member for Adults and Health said:

“This new service is designed by people with lived experience of homelessness and rough sleeping, ensuring the service has the experiences of the people who will use it at its heart.

“Despite government cuts to the council’s budget, now entering their tenth year, we are pushing forward with vital investment in services that improve the way we reach and support some of the most vulnerable people with the most complex and challenging needs in our borough.”

Cllr Emine Ibrahim, Cabinet Member for Housing and Estate Renewal said:

“Mulberry Junction is a fantastic new resource, this new centre works in collaboration with other departments, offering wrap-around services such as support with benefits, application for EU Settled Status, peer support and mental health support. Council investment in facilities like these will help us deliver on our commitment to end street homelessness by 2022.”
