The Selby Centre in Tottenham has set up a Food Hub giving out packages to anyone – no vouchers, referral or immigration checks required. Sue Hughes, a member of Hornsey Labour Party and fundraising officer for Hornsey and Wood Green writes about the support local mutual aid groups have provided to the Selby Centre.
“One of the things that has been a huge positive for me in this time has been working with neighbours to provide support for one another and for others in our constituency.
When we found out that the Selby Centre Food Hub was struggling to meet the huge demand to supply emergency food support to residents during the pandemic, we put word out in our group and the other Mutual Aid groups in Hornsey. The response was more than any of us could have imagined. The pictures above are a small portion of what was collected that first week. It’s only a small part of what we do and my hope for the future is that we can build on what has been started. Building strong communities that together can build a better world.”
