John Brennan
John Brennan

By Hornsey and Wood Green LGBT officer and Noel Park Labour member Gerard McGrath.

I am very sad to share with my comrades that our dear comrade, John Brennan, died yesterday at The North Middlesex Hospital. John was an outstanding member of Noel Park Ward Labour Party and the wider movement, which I have the honour to chair. He was a true socialist in the same mould as Jeremy Corbyn, both decent men and sharing a deep understanding and desire to help working people and those who are marginalised and oppressed in our very troubled society.

John served Noel Park ward as a Councillor between 1982 and 1990 and remained an active campaigner, becoming a key part of the 2019 election campaign in Hornsey and Wood Green.

Our thoughts, prayers and sincerest condolences go out to Grace and John’s wider family, friends and comrades. We will all truely miss him.
The people’s flag is deepest red,
It shrouded oft our martyred dead
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their hearts’ blood dyed its every fold.
So raise the scarlet standard high,
Beneath its shade we’ll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We’ll keep the red flag flying here.

Rest in Peace John.
