We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Cllr Ibrahim Ali to the Cabinet with immediate effect – a role we know he will serve with commitment and care.
For personal reasons, Cllr Mike Hakata has chosen to stand down as a councillor and cabinet member.
All of us at Haringey Labour would like to wish Mike the very best and thank him for his 8 years of hard work and dedication.
The announcement will not trigger a by-election, and residents of Hermitage and Gardens will still be represented by the fantastic Cllr Anna Lawton.
As Cabinet Member, Mike oversaw –
- One of the fastest rollouts of the School Streets scheme in London;
- 6,000 trees planted;
- Huge investment in the Community Carbon Fund and Climate Partnership;
- Launching our first Fixing Factories;
- Incredible nature conservation programmes.
We look forward to working with Cllr Ali as we continue to build a fairer, greener Haringey.
