Haringey Labour signs Charter Against Modern Slavery
Haringey Labour signs Charter Against Modern Slavery

Modern Slavery is a stain on our society and Haringey Labour are committed rooting this out of council procured services.

Haringey Labour Leader, Cllr Joseph Ejiofor became the latest to sign up to the Co-operative Party ‘Charter Against Modern Slavery’ at the London Labour Party conference held in Haringey last weekend.

The signing of this charter sends a powerful message to the Council’s suppliers and contractors that exploitation will not be tolerated in any of its supply chains.
In a speech given to Delegates at the London Labour Conference, Cllr Joseph Ejiofor said:

“I’ll be signing the Modern Slavery charter on behalf of Haringey Labour Party. I expect our Council to formally adopt the charter later this year. We are clear, that exploitation should have no place within council supply chains.

“I ask comrades, delegates present to take the charter back to your constituencies, to your Labour groups and councils, and consider adopting the charter as well.

“I have to be clear, we are not signing the charter because it makes a nice T-shirt slogan, we are signing it because we are more concerned about where and how that T-shirt is made.”
