Wood Green Post Office is hugely important to our community, and it’s under threat of closure.
The WHSmith that manages the branch is due to close on 4 March 2023, and the Post Office will close along with it unless we take action.
This is the only local Post Office. The next nearest Post Office is over a mile away and does not offer the same range of services. This is not accessible for many people, including the elderly, those with mobility issues, and those who may struggle to afford public transport.
The closure of Wood Green Post Office would be a catastrophic loss for our local community.
Why we need your signature:
Economic inclusion: Many local people who collect their pensions or benefits from this Post Office rely on the service being nearby, and the Post Office allows people without bank accounts to send payments.
There are lots of local people who don’t have access to the internet and lots who don’t use debit or credit cards. We need a front counter service that people can get to easily and is responsive when they need it.
Disappearing Post Offices: Two Post Offices a week have closed over the last two years. The closure of Post Offices was once an issue for small villages, but now Wood Green – the only metropolitan centre in North London – could be without a post office.
Building our local economy: Local services are key to a successful high street; Wood Green should be a one-stop-shop for local people.
With your support, we can show the Post Office how important our local branch is to the community. Please sign and share!
