"My hope is that this letter will encourage the club to reinforce its commitment to staff, and therefore the wider Haringey community, by finding a way to ensure staff are paid their full wages." Cllr Joseph Ejiofor, Leader of Haringey Council

The Leader of Haringey Council has written to Daniel Levy, urging the Tottenham Hotspur chairman to ensure that all non-playing staff receive full pay during the Coronavirus pandemic, encouraging the club to fund the 20% of staff wages not provided by the government furlough scheme.

Cllr Joseph Ejiofor, Leader of Haringey Council said, “Tottenham Hotspur is an important part of the local community, and their contribution to Haringey’s COVID-19 response has been instrumental in a time when this pandemic is putting enormous pressure on businesses of all sizes up and down the country.

“However, the club has yet to commit to paying their furloughed non-playing staff the additional 20% of their full wages, and I’m deeply concerned about the impact this will have on workers and their families.

“My hope is that this letter will encourage the club to reinforce its commitment to staff, and therefore the wider Haringey community, by finding a way to ensure staff are paid their full wages.”
