Have you been a victim of Vehicle Number Plate cloning? Live in Haringey?

Cllr Chandwani, (Cabinet Member with responsibility for Parking Enforcement in Haringey) has launched a research project aimed at lobbying Central Government to tackle this growing crime.  If you’ve been impacted, Cllr Chandwani wants to hear from you.

Vehicle Number Plate cloning is on the increase across the United Kingdom with some boroughs reporting figures doubling in the past couple of years.

Research last year found Haringey had the second highest reports of cloned number plates fined in London and this is set to rise as Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and School Streets are implemented.

In a case handled by Cllr Chandwani and Cllr Jogee, a resident in Belfast was fined for an offence in Hornsey even though the driver and the vehicle had never been to London.

Whilst there is data on how many fines have been written off by Haringey, it is proving impossible to know how many residents in Haringey are getting fined across the country in locations they never visited.

Aim of research

The research aims to build a picture of how many Haringey residents have been a victim of this awful crime, the impact it has had on them and what they feel needs to improve and change.

The findings will used to lobby Central Government to take action to protect Haringey residents from this crime and save Haringey Council resources from this fraud.

All responses are 100% confidential and will only be used to create a report to sent to Government ministers and offices to take action.

You do not have to supply your email address and we will not collect your personal data.

The report will be published on this website in mid March 2022.
